Why this template?
This template seems to be overlapping with Template:Nutritionalvalue. The latter was created about half a year before this one, but it seems that the creator has missed its existence. The advantages of the other template are:
- More flexible; no fixed number of nutrients
- More NPOV: it clearly says that the percentages are relative to US recommendations, rather than presenting the percentages as an absolute truth.
- All nutrients have links to their own article pages.
I would suggest to replace the use of this template by Template:Nutritionalvalue. I would welcome discussion on Template Talk:Nutritionalvalue about the layout and whether carbohydrates/fat/proteins should be specified as percentages. Han-Kwang (T) 19:46, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think they should be merged, but both of them need work. Are these the only ones, or are there others as well? Gene Nygaard (talk) 17:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Category: Food infobox templates. Feel free to make suggestions for improvements, although I'm personally not so interested in endless fine-tuning of layouts. Han-Kwang (t) 17:42, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Dietary fiber recommendation
It looks like this template has the recommended intake of dietary fiber at 250 g. What is the source for this value? According to the dietary fiber article, actual recommendations are in the range of 18-35 g. For example, my box of Cheerios with the U.S. nutrition facts label says it contains 3g fiber and that this corresponds to 11% of the daily value (for a 2000 kcal diet); the infobox at Cheerios (which uses this template) states that the 3g is only 1% of the daily value. --dzhim (talk) 17:45, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
